Top 5 Essential Supplements for daily health and wellness

We understand that wandering the aisles of our health and wellness boutique can be overwhelming. There are seemingly endless amounts of different supplements, many of which you may never have heard of or seen. And so many of the carefully selected supplements on our shelves are considered essential for optimal health. So how do you know which ones you really should be taking? Our Wellness Coaches are here to guide you in selecting what supplements may best meet your individual health needs. In the meantime, here is a list of the top 5 essential supplements for daily health and wellness. And guess what? CBD oil rounds it out!

Vitamin D
Vitamin D, also known as the “sunshine vitamin,” is a hormone that your body produces when your skin has exposure to the sun. However, most people in our modern society don’t get enough sunlight for their body to produce adequate amounts of this essential nutrient. Research shows that around 41.6% of the US population is vitamin D deficient. Vitamin D has many functions in the body and is crucial to maintaining optimal health. Healthy vitamin D levels are associated with bone strength and balanced mood. There are two types of vitamin D – D2 and D3. Of the two, D3 is much more effective at raising vitamin D levels in the blood. Fatty fish is an excellent food source of vitamin D, but we recommend taking a D3 supplement to ensure you’re getting enough of this essential vitamin.

Magnesium
Magnesium is the fourth most prevalent mineral in the human body and is responsible for hundreds of critical bodily functions. Your body can’t produce this essential mineral, so you need to obtain it from magnesium-rich foods or supplements. Studies show that almost 50% of people in western countries are magnesium deficient, and low levels can result in several health conditions. Taking a magnesium supplement, along with eating magnesium-rich foods such as legumes, nuts, seeds, and green leafy vegetables, can have many health benefits.

Probiotics
There are ten times more bacteria in your body than human cells. Most of them live in your gut and are vital to optimal health. The community of microorganisms in your GI tract is called flora or microbiome. These tiny organisms perform many crucial functions for your health, including manufacturing vitamins and neurotransmitters, metabolism and digestion, and proper immune system function. Your microbiome is a highly sensitive ecosystem, and diet, tension, and certain medications can wreak havoc on gut flora populations, leading to an array of health problems. Probiotic supplements and prebiotic fibers can help correct this balance.

Omega-3
Omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9 fatty acids are fantastic healthy fats. Having the right balance of these fatty acids is vital to health, and imbalances can contribute to many chronic ailments. These fats are called “essential fats,” meaning you need to get them from diet or supplements. Most people’s diets in the developed world contain too much omega-6 and not enough omega-3. Omega-3 fats are a crucial part of human cell membranes and are responsible for many essential functions in the body, such as heart health, brain, and mental health, bone health, and fighting body soreness. Deficiencies can contribute to chronic disease. The best food source of omega-3 is oily fish, but it is also in hemp seeds, flax seeds, and chia seeds. Olive oil, which is the base of our CBD products, is an excellent source of omega-9.

CBD
CBD or cannabidiol is one of the active compounds found in the hemp plant. Every human and most animals have an endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is responsible for keeping your body in homeostasis or optimal balance. ECS receptor sites are found throughout the body—in the brain, nervous system, digestive system, skin, and other organs. Your body produces cannabinoids like CBD that are similar to the ones found in the hemp plant, which help maintain the optimal functioning of the ECS. The ECS can quickly become depleted from tension, poor diet, and unhealthy lifestyle choices. Supplementing daily with CBD and whole-plant hemp extracts can help keep your ECS in peak condition and your body in an ideal state of health and wellness. We offer some of the highest quality certified organic Whole Hemp and CBD products available, in a variety of concentrations for easy dosing.

While these supplements are essential for your health and wellbeing, we recommend taking supplements in conjunction with a proper diet, regular exercise, and a healthy lifestyle for the best quality of life.
